Periodically, when I find time, I've been working on a new theme for the site, one that is more friendly to the eyes. A light theme if you will.
If you edit your profile, you will see PH_Light_v2 as an option. Feel free to check it out and point out the many problems with the theme.
The more feedback, the more I will have to work with.
The only thing I am "set" on would be the buttons, however, I want them to be a little bigger on some areas. Still working on figuring that part out.

I like it.
A few things are a little hard for me being color blind to see.
upper right corner where it says: "Logged in as" and then our user name.
The 6 icons to the right of it are hard to see.
(If I could screen print like Shawn can I would do so.)
They are "user control panel", "private message inbox", "buddy list", "albums page", "my topics" and "logout". The icons and the down down boxes they create.
Yellow smilies are also a little difficult to see.
[grin1]
well this one.
[laughing] [crying] [boxing] [aiee] [palm] [-o< [wasntme] [vikes] [mfing] [wtf] [tt] [mm] [down] [hijack]
edit- others seem fine.
stomp on viking s little hard to see.

I'm having trouble with some of the colors. It seems you change it once, it changes it in several spots. Then I have to parse it out (for lack of better term) in the CSS and add extra code blocks. Which is fine, no issues there. It's just finding them that is a pain in the ass.
I'm finding that having a #003500 background offers more color options than white background. I don't really want blue all over the place, but I would like the links in the Post's to be Red or Blue. However, when I change those, it changes EVERY link color. Really ticked me off the other night, lol.

the section of the shout box that we post the comment in doesn't stand out.
perhaps if the border was a different color.

What color would you suggest? I think links need to stand out and I'm kind of at a loss for what color to use. So, I threw red in there for now. I was thinking of using the hover color for the standard color. Just not sure if that sticks out enough.

I am not smart when it comes to colors.
I can see the basic green and green colors.
When they start to get blended I don't know what it is.
For example, I often mistake purple for blue on one end of the spectrum and red on the other.
It depends on the background.
Put red inside a box box and it will disappear for me.
Likewise the other way around.
I don't always see black if it is a red box.
The more light in the room the better I can see the color.
Pastels for the above mentioned reasons are usually harder to see.
But then what is the background?
If it is white it is easier to see than other backgrounds.
I use blue and grey a lot when I have the option but you mentioned you didn't care to have a lot of blue.
Something else to consider, there are varying degrees of colorblindness.
So you can do one thing to suit everyone.
So suit yourself and the general public first.
We will have to adapt.
Some places I use my cursor and highlight the post in order to read it more easily.
I don't normally do that here.

This is exactly the thing I want to avoid.

I jumped back to the regular version white letter on the green background is fine.
so is the light version with the white background.
