Happy Thanksgiving Alan. I hope you had a good deer camp, however I am beginning to wonder if the deer may have won this year!

"vikesrule"Either that, or the Turkeys got him! :eeeek:
LOL! It was almost true!
I saw 4 turkeys on opening day, including a big tom turkey only 10 yards away from me.
And Ironman.......they pretty much did win this year. I sat 10 hours opening day and 10 hours sunday without seeing a single deer! (Or a married one for that matter). Monday i was sitting on a trail with my brother in law, and i heard him move and turned to see him miss TWO deer. Both were easy shots too. (He also missed one on Sunday). But i couldn't get a shot off, as he was between me and the deer. So all i could do was watch. A few hours later, i did see 2 more deer, but they were being pushed by drivers (not Donald) and they saw my brother in law's van and ran full speed away before i could even raise my rifle. I did end up getting a deer as my sister in laws boyfriend gave me one, as he got two.
One really neat thing happened Sunday though,........another group of drivers were going through, and something popped out on the trail 70 yards down from me. I have only see one of these one other time in all the years i have been hunting and camping. A HUGE WOLVERINE!!! I thought it was a small bear at first, but quickly realized what it was. Thankfully, it didn't come any closer to me. Those are some MEAN creatures!
It's good to be home though, and back here!
(I got a nice sore throat going.....yuck!!!)
Thank you for the well wishes!!! :thumbleft:

Thats pretty much how it was.
When i sat in a spot, no deer.
If someone else sat in the same spot......deer.
I teased my brother in law, saying "The reason I didn't see deer was because they FEAR me. They KNOW it's safe to run by you!"
I VERY rarely miss when i shoot.
But thats why they call it hunting. The hunter doesn't always win.
Thats the first time i didn't get a deer in 4 years, so thats not too bad an average.

I know of three deer that resent that remark.
