Yesterday night in my little village of Howard we had some excitement! A tornado warning/watch thingy. Only bad thing about these storms is the damage they cause and injuries. That part I dislike, but something about mother nature just flexing it's power really grabs my amusement.

My oldest daughter is without power in her new home. My youngest daughters mother is without power. And that's right, I still got power and the internets!

Weather is a powerful thing.

9 years ago a tornado went through my old home town and did a lot of damage. My wife was on the expressway about 10-15 miles away and could hardly keep the car on the road. She found out the tornado was heading her way about 10 minutes later. By then she was far enough north that she was no longer in the path. I have a cousin who lives in the town. The tornado did damage west of her, bounced off the ground and landed a block away and leveled about 100 homes.

In 2015 one passed roughly 500 feet to the west of my Mom's home. I had been over to check on her and crossed over what would become the tornado's path 20 minutes before it got there. It was a half mile long. It would grow to be a full mile before it dissipated.

Last Monday night we had golf ball size hail here.
Last night was bad, but not as bad as it was Monday.
Many years ago I was in a tornado. My brother in law and I were in his car, trying to get to cover. I opened the passenger door, and as I did it was like a 300 pound lineman tried to shut it on me. I barely got out, the tornado sirens went off, and my BIL yelled "run for the house!!!"
As I was about 20 feet from the door, the neighbor lady yelled " I can't find my little girl!!!' so we made a quick decision and took off for her backyard. There we found the little girl, and got in the house and down stairs just in time.
It went right over us without touching down. But it knocked out power and some trees. But we were okay.

I love storms. And my bucket list has being able to someday go with storm chasers to get film of tornadoes.
I probably will never get to do it, but I wish I could!
