Let's say OC Ben Johnson and DC Aaron Glenn leave in favor of accepting HC positions. Does that knock the Lions down a peg? What if one of them goes to the Bears? Does that help the Bears more than it hurts the Lions?
I think Packers will sit status quo, but will add a Tier 1 free agent, or Tier 1a free agent this off-season. I shouldn't say Free Agent, because it could be via trade. I just get this feeling based on Brian Gutekunst press conference he's ready to
push the needle like he did 2019 off season.
I wouldn't be surprised if Vikings let Sam Darnold walk and hope for compensatory pick.
Anyhow, what are your thoughts about the DC/OC of Lions leaving and Bears and whatever else I just rambled about?

Glenn however is outstanding and his loss will hurt far more.
With that offensive line, average backs and quarterbacks look better than they are.
Unless they get an old proven DC, I think both losses will hurt the Lions.

Depends on whom they get to replace them.
But the Lions have strong lines which make any coordinates look better than they actually are, so possibly they won't be hurt as much as some think.
But Ben Johnson was very creative, and I thought used QB Jared Goff extremely wisely and basically made him a game manager and let the other guys be the play maker.
If you don't get an offensive play caller that sets up Goff right, I could see that knocking them down a peg.
That being said, Ben Johnson is still in the division, and now he's with the Bears, which clearly have a much worse OL, but might have a better QB.

The point made about the OL making any OC look good is a great point. When your QB has time and your skill players are allowed to run freely -- that helps. You would think every team would focus on building strong OL and DL then. 🤷
I'm still hopeful that both the OC and DC were just really good coordinators who can't really be good HC's. 😜

Well it sounds like Ben Johnson is trying to get his former Dolphins coach-mate Darren Rizzi whom was acting head coach of the Saints to be their Special Teams Coordinator.
And also trying to get former Saints head coach Dennis Allen to be their defensive coordinator.
Not this year, but perviously, the Packers always seem to have tough games against the Saints. Sadly these seem like smart hires.
On one potentially brighter note. The Seahawks are interviewing Lions OL coach to potentially be their offensive coordinator.
Odd to have your top offensive coach be an OL coach, but it might be nice if the Lions lose their OL coach.
Also, teams are taking away the Lions coaches, BUT no one seems to be looking at their GM staff, whom are the ones whom evaluated the players and kept getting good players.
Ray Agnew, former DT, was a top 10 overall pick, played for 11 years. Then has helped the Rams (2017-2020) and Lions (2021-presently) build very talented teams that have been strong with linemen.
And then of course John Dorsey.

Lions will be fine. Injuries got the best of them. Vikings will be ok as well as they have a very good coaching staff and a good offense regardless who the QB is. As for us, we go into 2025 season as unknown. Was 2023 all smoke and mirrors? Was 2024 just a fluke down season of this young team? Or is it the same Packers team who can reach the playoffs but fall short like they have done the last 15 years? Who knows!
As for the Bears, fuck 'em!

I knew the Lions had a lot of injuries, but I had not realized the extent they were playing a lot of 3rd and even 4th stringers...some guys right off the street.
Injuries just caught up with them.
