Absolutely not worth the #23 pick. But I'm also reading other tweets saying that there's been no contact between the two tesms but then a later tweet by Smith saying he stands by his sources.

I do think 3rd Round with Romeo Doubs would be fair to both sides.

Apparently Gutekunst talked about 2019 draft where we got Elgton Jenkins. He said DK Metcalf was someone they were high on.

Not a first no matter what. I'm pretty lukewarm on him overall. He's not a horrible addition but I don't think he will be a difference maker. He's been in the league 6 years already. He's production is going to start to drop off.
His receptions, 66, puts him at the 42nd best WR. In other words, WR2. Wait, there are 9 RB and TE with more receptions so he's 33rd. Still WR2.
He reception rate was 61.1% last year. Third highest average for him. Only 2 of the top 32 have a lower reception rate. Courtland Sutton and Keenan Allen. I wouldn't give a 1st for either of them.
At nearly 1000 yards he would be #22 after deducting the 3 TE from the list.
If you want to get rid of Doubs then make it even up. Doubs has a better reception rate. He is younger. He has a better contract. even after his 2nd deal hits the books. His numbers would be closer to Metcalf for receptions and yards if he was the featured back. GB uses more receivers than Seattle does. So DK has more opportunity.
Otherwise given them a 3rd or walk away.
Gute doesn't lose on trades.

Plain and simple the Packers will not trade their 1st round pick, they are hosting the draft and to not have a pick the 1st big night wouldn't be very smart for business in the NFL. Also I could see a 3rd and Doubs as he wants a new start and will probably only play 2 years and retire from to many concussions. But I don't see this trade happening as we don't have many picks

It's not like the draft leaves Green Bay if we trade our 1st round pick. The draft isn't a one round thing, right? This "Packers won't trade 1st round!" talk just doesn't land with me. No one has made it make sense. There is not going to be less eyes on the draft if we don't have our 1st round pick. There is no business side of this. OR I am freaking blind to it, which is quite likely! haha.
Anyhow, Deebo Samuel went for a 5th to another NFC team from 49ers. Maybe we're all a little too high on the whole compensation for DK Metcalf? I believe their GM came out saying there's been no talks and doesn't foresee any talks being had for Metcalf.

Sounds like the asking price is more like a 2nd now. Probably realistically a 3rd considering he needs a new contract and wants $30/m a year. I'm guessing the contract is a bigger issue for the Packers than the draft pick, but who knows?

In terms of having a bigger crowd, it might be better if the Packers traded back and had 2 second round picks.
Obviously, that's a silly reason to trade back but it is equally silly to assert that they will keep a first round pick because the draft is in Green Bay.

Metcalf was traded to The Steelers for a 2nd rnd pick and The teams will swap 6th and 7th rnd picks in 2026 .
Shefty is reporting Metcalf will get a 5 year 150mil contract. Guaranteed money yet to be disclosed.
