Yup, the Packers under Gute like keeping 5 LBers with the 5th one being a veteran STer.
Walker, Cooper, McDuffie, Hopper and Welch
No reason to use a draft pick on a LB now.

They usually draft for 1-2 years in the future, and Walker's contract situation is uncertain. So I wouldn't be surprised if they take one on day 3. But yeah, I don't think it's a priority.

I would say they still draft one. Hopper has been a horrible pick thus far, and Welch is somebody who didn’t make the team previously. There is still 0 depth behind the top 3 guys. They need to address this in the draft.
I’m hoping Hopper takes a step because right now it doesn’t look good on Gute. The dude was expected to go 6th/7th round and he took him in the 3rd.

I don't think it's uncertain, I think they turn down the 5th year option, Walker goes into a contract year, Packers offer him something, and most likely he's disappointed it's not more and signed elsewhere.
Which is why they re-signed McDuffie for 2 years. As he'll be a stop gap, and maybe they'll draft a LBer high in 2026 if no one else steps up.

Yeah, but it's LB, usually only the two 2 are on the field, as all 32 teams majority run nickel defense, I think for some teams, some years have run more dome defense with 1 LB than they have with base with 3 LB on the field.
So I think they only need 3 for the 2 LBer spots.

I've seen Jalon Walker around our pick and he would be someone I wonder if would intrigue them.
He is from Georgia which Gute seems to like.
He is a bit of a tweener and may be able to play Edge or LB.
Super Athletic and has been productive.
I don't see them giving Quay his 5th year, but maybe something will click or they will get him in a position where he can just react.
The green dot is probably better on Cooper.

I think it's been pretty clear the Packers have consistently said that they need to figure out how to get pressure with the front 4.
So I believe they're going to be looking at front four guys and if they're looking at LBers, it's be as coverage guys and ST specialist.

Based on what I've read about this draft. I would be shocked if re-signing Kristian Welch prevents them from drafting a LB on Day Three. Especially if more picks are acquired. I don't think these free agent signings change the draft because the draft is for the future, and free agency is for immediate. We still need LB's and still need CB's and you can add WR's to that mix.
