have suggested that starting positions at LT, RG and RT are open for competition.

While also seemingly ignoring LG and C. As Banks and Jenkins seem to be locked in there. My take is below the article quote

GREEN BAY — At first, it seemed as if Adam Stenavich might’ve misspoken. Then, the Green Bay Packers offensive coordinator made it clear that he had not.

Stenavich was discussing the team’s offensive line last week, and emphasizing the importance of competition as he, head coach Matt LaFleur and offensive line coach Luke Butkus search for the ever elusive “best five” linemen.


“We’re going to have,” Stenavich said during a 16-minute Q&A session with reporters during a break in Phase II of the offseason program, “a lot of competition there at both tackle positions with trying to find who our best five guys are.”

The article goes into detail about Tom's year last year, but as the clear best linemen on the team, why is his spot open for competition?

I think the article might be looking at it from the wrong angle. I believe Tom might have his starting spot locked up, maybe at which position might still be in question?

Could they be giving Tom, Walker and Morgan all an opportunity for the LT spot? With losers then competing for RT spot? Or the best 5 overall as they put it... or 3 overall of Banks and Jenkins are already locked in.

Also this would allow rookie OL Belton to possibly focus in on the right side only, and battle at RG and RT.

I wouldn't be surprised if Zach Tom is not on the team Week One. So many Packers fans over rate this guy. He gets looing like a turnstile even when he has a TE chipping. It's horrible. Packers need to do better. If the OL and DL do not improve, this team will not win it all.

With respect to you, anyone that thinks he's a turnstile is ABSOLUTELY clueless about OL they're watching... he's clearly been one of the top RTs in the entire NFL.

I'm okay with being labeled clueless as it pertains to OL. I tend to watch QB foot work and WR's more than OL. I'll watch their feet because it tips off if it's a run or pass depending on the stance.

Tom would start for every team in the NFL, perhaps not at right tackle, but somewhere.

I think Tom and Walker will be the starters for the year at OT, but I'm not fully sure on which side, as it seems like they're open to making a switch there.

So I'm guessing the Week 1 starting OL lineup will be

Tom, Banks, Jenkins, Rhyan, Walker
And Belton replaces Rhyan during the season.

Depth Chart
I'm going to make the depth chart with Belton as the RG starter, just because it's cleaner that way (instead of guessing who would be top RT backup between Morgan and Belton)

LT: Tom, Morgan
LG: Banks, Morgan
OC: Jenkins, Rhyan
RG: Belton, Rhyan
RT: Walker, Morgan

So if everyone is healthy, then your 8 OL on the game day roster will be Tom, Banks, Jenkins, Rhyan, Walker, Morgan, Belton and one more, based whomever looks best that week, or backup to the starter who's most banged up going into the game.

LG: Aaron Banks
C: Elgton Jenkins
RG: Jorgan Morgan
RT: Zach Tom
