Packers sign DL Cameron Young
Third-year defensive lineman played in 17 games for Seahawks
Jun 10, 2025 at 05:12 PM

Young (6-3, 304), a third-year player out of Mississippi State, was originally selected by the Seattle Seahawks in the fourth round (No. 123 overall) of the 2023 NFL Draft. He played in 17 games with one start for the Seahawks in two seasons, recording 18 tackles (10 solo), a tackle for a loss, a QB hit and a pass defensed. In college, Young started 25 of 42 games played for the Bulldogs, posting 107 tackles (35 solo), nine tackles for a loss and two sacks in five seasons (2018-22). He will wear No. 78 for the Packers.

He was banged up last year.

...Young missed the first five games of 2024 on the reserve/Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list due to an undisclosed injury, later identified as a knee issue. He returned briefly for Week 6 but aggravated the knee injury, landing him on injured reserve (IR) again for at least four games (minimum until Week 14). He was ruled out for additional games, including against the Buffalo Bills and Los Angeles Rams, and never returned to full health
But in 2023
Young was a solid rotational player in 2023, contributing to a defensive line that needed depth. His performance was modest but encouraging for a rookie, with coaches like Clint Hurtt and analysts like Brock Huard noting his potential to be a key run defender. However, his limited pass-rush production (no sacks) meant he was primarily a situational player on early downs.

If healthy, he seems like a decent rotational inside guy....I like it.
