I can scroll up (but not down) through threads with the scrollball on a Mac mouse, but the ball has no effect on the main forum page or any sub-forum pages.
On those pages, I have to use the scroll bar.
Correction: I can scroll up but not down on any page on the forum.
Forum and sub-forum main pages default to the top of the page, so that's why I didn't notice it before.
In order to scroll up, I have to first scroll down using the scroll bar.
Addendum: I can also scroll left and right.

What happens when you try a different piece of hardware? or update the drivers on the current hardware?
I've tested this on a Mac at home and site worked well except I think some links were outlined in blue/red.

It's a school Mac, so I can't update the drivers. It might be a physical problem with the scrollball itself. I will check it out the next time I use another school Mac.

Non - here's how to solve the problem.
I assume you're in a computer lab.
1. Unplug the mouse
2. Unplug the mouse of the guy next to you without him noticing (guys can be easily distracted)
3. Plug in your mouse in his slot
4. Plug in his mouse in your slot
There.
Fixed.

Sounds like a great solution: too bad the cables are ziptied. ;)

Sadly, I think that might be prosecutable as theft or destruction of government property.

The way I read that, my response was going to be, "Yeah, but now you're controlling the pointer on his screen and he's controlling the pointer on yours!"
