Makes me a bit nervious to have jordy return kicks and punts. Grant it he has shown flashes in the preseason returning kicks but it sure looks like a good way to get the kid nicked up. What the kick returns have shown is he can break a tackle and hit a seam great ...that makes yac on the recieving end. But i think we would be better searved keeping blackmon back there and having jordy fresh for recieving duties. We could use jordy as a second tightend in passing downs. He has the size of a tightend and could really add a surehanded addittion in that role. Also a great addition to the big 5 package.

I think you put jordy at kick return and then keep blackmon at punt return just because he has more experience back there.

You play to win games.
Keep in mind, Desmond Howard was MVP of our last SB win.
We have 3 guys who can get us consistent YAC - Driver, Jennings, and Jones.
We need someone back there on KR duty to get us good field position.
Jordy fills that role.
Blackmon can handle our punts.

But as good as Blackmon does?
I don't think so.
The thing is, Blackmon has shown a ton of potential in limited opportunities as KR, and Tramon Williams was quite good and gave us good returns at clutch times.
I'd rather have those two start as the returners, I think you have to play it safe with Blackmon's injury history, but that doesn't mean reducing Blackmon's opportunities to display his playmaking skills.

Did you see the Niners game? Jordy was SICK on KRs.
Yes, it's a small sample size, but if he continues to play like that...

I'm going to hold off making any judgements until I see what he can do against a teams first string S.T.'s. But I'm hoping for more of what I saw against the Niners.

Jordy won't be good on PR, he's done nice on KR
Blackmon won't do good on KR, he's proven he's good on PR.
KR and PR are two different animals.

KR and PR are two different animals.
Granted they are two different things, but to state that Nelson/Blackmon won't be good on one or the other is jumping the gun, no?
Blackmon has some experience at WR from college, he returned kicks in college also, so it isn't as if he's totally foreign on kickoffs.
He has playmaking ability, he can definitely succeed in both return positions.
As for Jordy, when I see a 6'2/6'3 WR with above average WR strength, and most importantly returners like Blackmon and Williams ahead of him, I think he's more valuable as a blocker on ST.
