"doddpower""Greg C."Woah, 6'2" is pretty short for an NFL TE, isn't it? The good ones all seems to be 6'5" or 6'6".
Dallas Clark is 6'3.
Thanks! I feel better now.

I think this is great move!
Quarless was dissapointing this year and unless he steps up his game, along with Crabtree neither will ever be a viable top 20 in the league caliber TE.
Finley will either be hurt this year (thus would justify searching for a TE) or will have a monster year and demand big $$$ so it makes a lot of sense to target another TE
This guy is pretty quick, and as someone else noted has lined up at WR in the slot at Ark, which could help with Jones potentially departing/Driver getting older.
Very good anticipatory pick by Teddy!

I think the even better reference as mentioned is Dustin Keller, also at 6'2.
The main point being that it isn't so much height as much as the ability of the individual player.
Not sure why you're being sarcastic about it.
I don't think his "lack" of height is that big of an issue as long as he is a talented player.

Zero, Isn't Williams a 5th round pick?
Your subject line says he is a 4th.

He's a unique talent and there is no denying that production. It really looks like we've added some unique offensive players in this draft that will add a new wrinkle to our offense. He could become a player like Chris Cooley.
McCarthy is probably drooling over this guy and Cobb and the potential he has.

I am kind of surprised that people say that Quarless, a rookie TE, had a bad year when he had a better one than Finley's first.

I was thinking the same thing.

Just because Quarless had a better rookie year than Finley does NOT mean he will be better than Finley.
That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard.
You can tell just by the way the 2 of them play that Finley is better.
This is by no means meant to be a bash on Quarless.

I don't think I've read anyone make that argument, because, as you say, it is a stupid argument.
To be fair D_S, musccy said Quarless had a disappointing year and that he had to step up... Quarless was pretty disappointing in terms of replacing Finley's lost production. Our TE receiving production with Quarless/Lee/Crabtree was not even a shell of what it was with Finley. However, considering he was a rookie and asked to play a hybrid FB/TE role at times when sent in motion... I'm willing to cut the dude some slack.
I think we'll be keeping 4 TEs again this year, and I don't have a problem with that. Considering Finley's (brief) playing history, it's likely he'll get injured and we'll need someone to step in for him.

Like aadp said, I'm not saying Quarless was a bust, but at the same time, you can't compare rookie stats to make a conclusion.
Finley didn't play until late his rookie season, if I'm not mistaken, but it was pretty easy to see the raw athleticism and potential that he had.
Just off my opinion, Quarless didn't show the same potential, and drafting 2 tight ends seems to suggest Packer management feels similarly.
I'm not saying he can't/won't step up, but even accounting for the "well, he was just a rookie" disclaimer, I think Quarless has been underwhelming.
