1996 Packers vs. Chiefs

1996, Packers went to Arrowhead, Chiefs clocked the Packers to a 27-6 lead before Packers closed it in garbage time.
Chewy went down for what looked like it'd be the year.
Next week, Packers spanked in Dallas as they were still reeling from Chiefs, but then go on to dominate every other game remainder of the season and onto a SB victory.

I had mentioned the '96 team getting spanked by the Chiefs as well. I remember the game because Derrick Mayes made one of my favorite TD catches ever, lol.

I don't think this loss effects our confidence, but I do think it takes pressure off.

Hopefully this loss pisses off our team.
It should.

Hopefully it will make them go out and beat the shit out of the Bears and Lions, then whoever gets in their way in the playoffs.

Walden is wasting space on our D..

i've been watching him specificly for alot of games now. He has no ability to get passed single-blocking, his blitzes consist of running at the OT, pulling up, and getting blocked.

This week however, he unveiled a new tactic! run waaaaay around the tackle, get blocked, then run aaaaalll the way back to the LoS, and get blocked.

(^ I will try to find the video, it's peewee league BS)

no wonder we have such a crappy pass-rush, our ILBs are pulling up before contact too, every fucking time.

he is next to worthless in coverage... I just don't see why he is on the field.

I pointed this out several times during the game, but people just scoffed.
It wasn't just our LBs either.
There were several instances in the game in which our DBs could have hit the ball carrier and they just pulled up short for no obvious reason.
At times it seemed as though they were playing more to avoid injury than win the game.
I could see it at game speed, but it was blatant on replay.

It's nice to be here.
This is my first post in this blog.

My observations and analysis of today's loss:

Defensively:
It seemed like we were in a prevent defense all day, possibly due to how many times we've been getting beat deep this year.
Our guys just seemed to be floating in space and the middle of the field was wide open all day.

We had no pass rush, as was obvious.

Kyle Orton didn't make any mistakes and we had no passes to pick off.
Without that part of our game, our defense is impotent.

They ran off left tackle with ease, especially late in the game when we had to stop them and looked terrible trying it.

Offensively: It's scary to think that our receivers may be as dependent on Greg Jennings as it seems.
I thought the receivers were bad today.
Jordy played as bad a game as I've seen in awhile.

I have almost no confidence in JerMichael Finley.
He has way too many drops.

A-Rod doesn't play nearly as well in cold as he does in heat and domes.

Our O-line was injury riddled and terrible at the same time.

Summary:
Horrible.
Didn't even mention Crosby's missed field goal and Cobb's lack of impact in the return game.
Defense was weak, offense was weak, special teams were weak and McCarthy was weak today.
Hopefully, this humiliating performance will help us get over ourselves and convince us that we still have plenty to work on.
As a fan, I channeled my inner Jim Mora: "PLAYOFFS?!
We'll be lucky to win a game!
PLAYOFFS?!

PackCard, this game was only about 50 degrees, according to the broadcast.
Rodgers DOES play good in the cold.
He played good today, but he didn't have much time to throw and his receivers had a lot of drops.

If Finley doesn't have any drops, except maybe the hard ones, Arodge's stats are far better.
(Not to mention we likely win.)

I wasn't specific enough with my comment.
He's almost perfect in perfect conditions.
When it's sloppy, he's not quite as good, which is usually how it is with all QB's. I'm thinking of the NFC title game last year for example when he wasn't as sharp in the 2nd half of the game. He's almost always great every time he's out there but I don't think he's quite as good in cold.
No, it wasn't freezing today but it's starting to get there.
Still, I'm confident.
