Smokey;284346Unless you have advertising to insert, the green area at the top of the page is way too much. You could trim 33% by raising the Log off & Hi,Member! , then eliminating the excess green. It would free up about 3 lines of space that could be used to add 3 lines to the Chat/Shout Area. It would be a better look.

The ShoutBox can contain more lines, but it has been trimmed down because the focus of the site is the forum, not the shout. Or at least, that is the goal! haha

PS, I know you edited your post, but just wanted to give you a little reason behind the madness.

Edit, that reminds me, our "Packers Schedule" is freaking hideous. Really need to figure out that design.

Speaking of the chat, where did it go?

What do you think about going from three columns (small, big, small) to (big, small) two column layout? I think this would give all sidebox items available for everyone.
You can check it out by hitting up PackerPeople.com

The idea is to get a layout that will work for small devices, big devices and all the various screen resolutions. The most commonly used resolution is 1366x768 which is what most laptops display content.

It is perfect.
All you have to do is to put the tweets on the bottom.

I am torn between wanting the schedule up as high as possible and #2 behind the fan shout box.
Everything is based on the games themselves so having them on top would acknowledge that but most people already know the schedule so they probably don't look at it all the time while the shout box changes all the time.

I love it like this. The Packerpeople site looks so plain. But that might just be me, of course.

I like the new look, overall, on both sites. Very clean, minimalistic, but still showing everything you need to know. The shoutbox is more of a shoutbox, rather than a full blown chat app.

The one issue with the 3 column layout is not everyone has wide screen monitors, so they miss out on stuff.

The 2 column layout provides a consistent PackersHome experience for a wide range of users.

What do you mean that PackerPeople looks plain? That's basically the same site as PackersHome lol
