Thought this was kind of interesting.
Marshawn Lynch on 20 carries forced 7 missed tackles while Lacy/Starks on 19 carries forced 10 missed tackles.
The big difference to me was blocking on the edges and their LBs covered up when guys missed tackles while ours were getting blocked.

Yeah the difference in LB was striking. On more than one occasion Lynch would cut back and having nothing but daylight in front of him. Lacy on the other hand, had to work for just about everything.

cheeseheads123;283323On top of that he makes terrible decisions in the run game. Everyone wants to bash raji. Look what happened without him. The problem is hawk being the best ILB on the field
With Raji in the game we give up historic performances to A. Peterson and Kaepernick.
I agree to some extent with what Darkane said.
The team needed a reality check like this to more effectively assess a bunch of new/inexperienced pieces across the defense.
HOWEVER, if you don't have the tools you need, what can you do?
For the DLine we have...
- a 2014 UDFA who was average at the NCAA D2 level
- a 2013 5th rounder
- a veteran the Vikings didn't want to retain w/ 5 career NFL sacks in 5 years
- a 3rd year who showed a lot of promise as a rising star in 2013 (Daniels)
- a 2013 1st rounder with an underwhelming first season.
That's it.
In a game won/lost in the trenches, that's what the Packers are going to bat with.
If I'm a 2014 Packer opponent, I'm laughing as I do once of these... [aiee] Then when they see Hawk and Brad Jones ARE STILL starting at LB, they'll probably all go out and buy lottery tickets.

Mucky Tundra;283347I truly am wondering what the hell was going on when Guion was tabbed as starter for this game. Guy didn't play until the last preseason game, missed a lot of the offseason stuff with an injury and he's declared starter for this game!? Why? I can only guess that it's because he's a vet and has more experience than Boyd.
Or maybe it just shows what they truly think of Boyd?
Who knows.

Maybe but that still doesn't make sense because Boyd looked a hell of a lot better when he was in there.
I'm leaning towards Dom being Dom and preferring the vet for no reason other than the fact that he's a vet.
It's getting old seeing younger guys only getting a shot due to injuries or superior play over several weeks before they actually overtake an underperforming vet.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Guion stay the starter a few more weeks even if Boyd clearly outplays him game after game.

Well, I'm certainly not going to defend Dom Capers. I think his time has passed for a season or two now. I just feel it's been time to gamble on someone else. It could bite the Packers in the ass (but how much worse could it truly get?), but it very well could improve the defense.
I think it's a risk worth taking, at least in the off season, but I'm not getting paid by a NFL team, unfortunately.
But does anyone actually believe there is not a coach out there that could at least do marginally better with the Packers defense over the past 2-3 seasons?

It's slightly baffling how this team operates: we throw UDFA and rookies into the fire at some positions but at others they get completely buried.

HHCD has already defended as many passes as MD Jennings did all last season so there's also that lol.

He missed some tackles, but overall, I thought it was a decent showing for the rookie's first game. The kid has upside, but it will take some time. I'm glad he got some experience in Seattle.

Yeah he definitely took his rookie lumps but you can see an NFL starter in him.
