Look who's #6 in the league in passing yards--one yard ahead of our own guy:

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/football/nfl/stats/2008/passing/0_byPASS_YDS.html

That's right. It's Kyle Orton. I've watched the Bears a few times this year, and he's looked pretty good. There's no one thing about him that stands out, but he seems like a smart guy with no major weaknesses. And it's not like he has a bunch of great receivers who are making him look better than he is. Greg Olson is a good young TE, but the Bears' WR's are nothing special, at least not right now.

Is it time for us to admit that Kyle Orton is a pretty good QB?

He's still statistically way behind A-Rod. The way I see it is this:

1. Drew Brees
2. Philip Rivers
3. Kurt Warner
4. Jay Cutler
5. Aaron Rodgers
6. Tony Romo
7. Jason Campbell
8. Kyle Orton

Those are based on statistics only, to do perfect rankings you'd have to watch every game. Also some of them (like Warner) has had bye weeks so they're not completely accurate. Jason Campbell hasn't thrown an INT yet, that's why he's so high. Remember, A-Rod has 3 Rushing TDs too.

I've watched him here and there over this 1st half of the season and don't see anything bad about the guy.
He is not exciting but I don't think he will lose many games for the Bears.
He looks like he shouls be wearing bib overalls, carrying a government fishing pole over his shoulder, walking barefoot down a dirt road with a piece of straw in his mouth.

the reason he looks good is dfences aren't getting to him so he looks good  all though i believe allen got to him last week and now that i think of it he looks good because as usual special teams put up some points for them
if orton has to stay out on thew field more i would say he is not that good

He is similar to Arodg in many ways. Doesn't make mistakes. Is not a rookie. And bottom line is, he has a heck of a winning percentage.

Is he a top flight QB? No , but I can't say Rodgers is yet either. Can Orton be a top flight QB. I don't know that he has all the tools. I see him more as a Trent Dilfer. Meaning I don't see him putting the team on his back and winning games when the resto f the team is struggling, however, with good personal around him, he can be very good.

End analysis;

Bears finally have a decent QB.

This has been in the back of my mind since last year.
I jokingly said at the beginning of this season that if everyone thinks the Bears and Orton suck, they unfortunately did not get the memo.
I think that kid will win a lot of games for them... this is very bad news for us, not the bares.
Incidentally, I had the exact same feeling last year about our next opponent, it seemed like every time I saw them play, with I think one exception, the Titans looked scary good.
We are in for a dogfight for this division, imo. The bares are tough to be beat with no quarterback to speak of, and Orton is so far playing like a difference-maker, and sad to say, it ain't luck, the s.o.b. can play the game.

This has nothing to do with how he plays but....

Is it just me or does anyone else notice a resemblance?
For some reason whenever I see K.O. I think of The Lion.

Trippster, I'm about where you are on this. I would say that Orton is better than Trent Dilfer, though. It looks like the Bears wasted a couple years (and possibly blew a chance at a championship) with the Rex Grossman experiment. Orton is a pretty good QB who is a good fit for the offense they run in Chicago. He is not to be taken lightly.
