We have a pair of new teams in the top five this week.
How's this for silly? Panthers win and lose two spots and their opponent the Seahawks rises seven spots. I was tempted to drop them a peg or two, but I want these to be more data/formula based than spite based. :-)
The Texans and Seahawks jumped up the most with their +7 improvement followed by Dolphins who climbed +6. The biggest floppers were Jaguars losing -7 spots with Redskins and Titans both moving -6 back.
I'm feeling Jets over Patriots this week for my upset. The Patriots are 9.5 favorites, but the Jets and Dolphins seem to always give Patriots a run for their money and I think there is going to be a Patriot let down.
Bonus upset pick, 49ers over Seahawks who are 6 point favorites.

Apparently you haven't done your "pick'em" yet, because it's 100% for the Patriots at this point.
Yeah, that is interesting about the Seahawks - they choke it away and you raise them up? It would really be interesting to see the nuts and bolts of your ranking system. Yours looks better this week than any previous although still way off in the bottom half.
I'll be back with mine later.

I usually make my picks on the weekend. Thursday's pick is already in. I don't always follow my rankings when I make picks. If I'm iffy on the match-up, then I do. But I am only showing overall rank. I have an offensive and defensive ranking for each team too. :-)
As for the nuts and bolts, I'm sure the formula's (I don't have time to teach you Advanced Statistics bahahaha) I'm using on the stats pales in comparison to your dart board approach of rankings!

I think you went out to the barn and got a large pail of something hahahaha.
As I said last week, I tend to start out with who was expected to be good or bad before the season and then adjust, but not in too extreme a way. I also often deviate from my own rankings in the Pick 'Em - maybe why I am so far down there.

Maybe not perfect, but I think it looks like a decent algorithm.

Based on the differences in our list, I'm guessing your referring too Chargers, Titans and Chiefs.
Like I said, I think it was a decent algorithm, the algorithm might need some improvements still and I wouldn't be surprised to see the Chargers being the big movers going up on this list in coming weeks. Most algorithms have flaws, and the Chargers could be falling into one at the moment in this one.
As for the Titans and Chiefs, I'm not sure they're that good of teams.

This coming from two guys that have a team with four losses in their top ten, over a currently undefeated team (or in one cases top in their five over two currently undefeated teams)...

So you're saying you'd pick Carolina to beat Seattle? And Tampa Bay to beat 8 other teams? And the Chiefs to lose to ...... everybody? hahahahahaha
As I have said, it's all about who can beat who(m). You better recheck your algorithm hahahahaha, cuz it sure doesn't come close to doing that.
At least you made an effort, though. A LOT of others haven't got the testicular fortitude.
