Nonstopdrivel;405067But most teams don't do it on almost every single play, and in any case, my point is that there's no excuse for doing it in the last few moments of the game when your only hope for victory is to score quickly and get the ball back.
This is something I complained about quite a bit, then watched other teams play. What we do is not more or less common than other teams in the league, including the Rams.
The problem on our offense is not running play clock down to zero, it's failure to execute the play man by man.
If each man did their job, the offense would be clicking very well.

There is quite a bit to unpack here,
1. Go.Back.Go. Congratulations on the Prediction.
2. I don’t think they gave up, I just don’t think they know what the hell they’re doing. This is what happens when the bulk of your practice time goes to Cobb and Allison, and then they get hurt, is that VS and St B don’t know what to do in two minute offense. Regrettably, the growth is painful to watch sometimes.
3. Rodgers - There are 31 other general managers who would trade their quarterback straight up for Aaron Rodgers right now, so cut the crap. He does not have the supporting cast! Everybody wants him to set his feet and make great throws like Brady does. Brady has all freaking day to throw standing in one freaking spot. Rodgers doesn’t know if he’s going to get creamed from one play to the next.
4.
I am not a McCarthy fan because:
-
Relatively low level of innovation
-
Play calling predictability and lack of screen draws slants another key elements of a balanced attack
- The other things he doesn’t do, like when there is a questionable completion having the team hustle up to the line of scrimmage and run a play before the other team has a chance to challenge.

Are you actually missing my point, or are you being deliberately obtuse? I genuinely can't tell.
To reiterate, I'm specifically addressing the idiocy of running the play clock down on every play when you're behind by two scores with less than four minutes to play. At some point you need to be able to play with a little urgency and execute an up-tempo offense if you're going to have any hope of getting back into the game. To not even pretend to attempt a hurry-up offense in this situation is to give up on the game. I can't think of any other way of construing it.

I don't believe for a second that the Patriots, Eagles, Saints, Rams, or Chiefs would trade their quarterbacks straight up for Aaron Rodgers right now, and frankly, I doubt the Falcons or Panthers would either. That's well over a fifth of the league right there. The Steelers might be willing to, since Roethlisberger's retirement song and dance is getting to be tiresome, but it wouldn't surprise me if even they would want some compensation.
