Yesterday I took my wife to a local thrift store. I stayed out in the car while she shopped. After about an hour, I had to do what old men do.....,yup, I had to PEE!!!
So I went into the store, used the facilities, and decided to take a look around in the store. I saw a few boxes of baseball cards. Mostly the over produced stuff. Then I saw it....a box of 1989 Upper Deck cards. It was taped shut, but I could lift a corner, and saw that it was full of cards, not in the packs. I figured chances were that whoever bought the box, took out any of the valuable cards, leaving behind the commons. But when I saw the price for the box was only $6.79, I figured what the heck? Why not?
Well, to make a short story long....I got through about a third of the cards, got a Randy Johnson rookie card. Not bad. Then.....A KEN GRIFFEY JR. ROOKIE CARD!!! The best card in the set! I couldn’t believe it! Pretty neat find! There wasn’t much else in the box......until.....a SECOND GRIFFEY JR. ROOKIE!!!!
I guess whoever bought the cards took them out of the packs, put them back in the box, and never looked at them again.
All it cost me was about what you would pay for 2 new packs of baseball cards today.

Good for you.
My younger brother bought a ton of over produced cards back in the 80's. I don't recall who made them or what year they are but he has a about 20 or so cases of them. Never been opened. I have no idea who is in there. I have thought about cracking on of the open but they are his not mine. I figure there has to be one or two keepers in the lot.

I did the same thing. It was fun opening packs to see what you would get. Unfortunately, there wasn’t much value to them.
I actually bought only ONE pack of Upper Deck baseball cards at a Shopko in Kingston Michigan. At the time, no one knew which player would ever amount to anything. And believe it or not, that one pack had a Ken Griffey Jr. in it! I still have that card. So now I have THREE of them!
I’d say you should see if your bro has any boxes of 1989 Upper Deck. Those would be worth going through if he would let you do it. 😁
