That was my realtor. Before I could prepare myself for the pending bad news, she called! I answered to "CONGRATS!"
my offer was accepted. So, end of September I'm gonna officially be one of those home owner people.

If momma could see me now ...

Congrats! That is great news. May everything go well with the closing and, more importamtly,
setting up the TV room for watching the games on Sunday.

I had a lot of folks helping me with ideas, including you folks here. Some folks were telling me to just blind offer and skip even looking at places. Don't ask for home inspection. Offer way over the listing. And if I don't do these things, I won't get a house. Everyone family and friends were just trying to help, but I had to it my way -- for better or worse. I ended up getting two showings at this place, one for me, one for Scarlett and I. My offer was basically the listing price. I offered under what I thought the house was worth TO ME and had an escalation clause to go up just under what it was worth to me. So no matter what, I wouldn't be paying more than I felt the place was for me.

Long story short, I was lucky as shit. A lot of places were gone within a week of being listed. This one was listed Thursday, I viewed it. Got Scarlett the next day and we saw it together on Friday. Saturday made my offer. Monday it was accepted. So, truly was just right place, right time because like others were saying, if you don't act fast and skip things like home inspection and what not, you will get passed over.

Here's a picture. Of course, pending home inspection.

Finally no more estimates on closing costs. Got the actual number and it's a few thousand lower than what I budgeted for myself. My fear was they'd add a bunch of hidden fees and stuff and tap my savings dry. Which would make it hard to replace a furnace or water heater or who knows.

Starting to feel "real" now and getting more excited. Closing is on Monday.

dfosterf;453389Well?

Closing went smooth. Not the first time, but pretty sure I disappointed the ladies there. They were all ramped up and I was in overdrive planning mode, lol. They were like be excited!! And I'm thinking, I'm quarter million in debt now, lol.

I went from closing to old place, moved one load, then went to dentist, then moved another load. Then taped off Scarlett's room, picked her up and we tried painting her room. It was this nasty bright green which is a pain in the ass to cover. I don't like painting, I've discovered. Half way through painting, we went to old place to get the truck and move more things and the brakes in the truck went out. Pedal straight to the floor. I'm thinking master cylinder, so that's fun!!

Cleaning lady for new place coming in about an hour.

Long story short, I guess I'm a home owner now.

Spent the last several days trying to button up crazy loose ends at the house. I still haven't really grasped it that I don't have to be quiet. I'll find myself thinking, shit, TV probably too loud, oh wait ...

I had several things that were weighing me down big time that "needed" to be done, or ordered. This morning I finally got the final "piece" ordered and decided I'm going to just shovel this year and wait for a good deal on a snow blower.

I still have quite a bit to do. That said, the "need" stuff is done. The rest I can live with so ... WHEW ... finally can breath a bit!

Scarlett room was finished few days ago along with the special rug she wanted. Her room was this bright ugly green that you would never think someone would use for painting walls.
