Do some of you think Gute could have made this trade with just pick 53 and a bag of peanuts? And no, it wasn't getting done with 53 and 92 either. Gute's whole staff was jumping for joy when he made this trade up happen. They had been trying to swing a trade for him since Thursday. Everyone inside 1265 loves this player. And the bonus is that he is a great kid. You are going to LOVE him.
Gute's Director of Football Operations Milt Hendrickson:
"A pick is just a pick until it becomes a player. From that standpoint, if you love the player, you just find a way to get him."
5 years from now you are going to be denying you ever said: "I hate the trade."
Don't hate...Celebrate!

nerdmann;450480The Jimmy Johnson chart shows what the picks were worth. This player was worth more than what the chart says those picks were worth. Still value.
Over the years I have seen a number of value charts. I don't remember which one I looked at last night. One of the things that the charts fail to take into consideration is what value does the team put on the payer they are moving up to get? Green Bay had a much higher value on Watson that the 34th selection in the draft. Because of that they were willing to package their two 2nd round picks to move up.

I am indeed ordering a Christian Watson jersey. To get it autographed and framed. I have several Packers jerseys in frames. Yes, I am confident that this kids career is going to make his framed jersey rise in value every year.

I know that WRs blocking is a big part of MLFs offense but this is like winning a Porsche and your first comment is that you like the paint color.
Yes, blocking is important in LaFleur's offense, but it also shows him that this is a player that will do whatever it takes to make sure the team gets the W. Shows him that the player is not at all concerned about personal stats. He only cares about the team winning games. He enjoys blocking to help his teammates make big plays, and it shows in his play. LaFleur loves that.

Scouts opinions on this kid.
NFC scout: Big, fast developmental guy. Reminded me a lot of Marquez Valdes-Scantling. Another 6-4 guy who ran 4.3. He’s going to need a lot of polish. I don’t know if his hands are as good as Marquez’s were coming out but there are similarities in terms of what he could be. Issue I have is, he played at North Dakota State, and at one point he had a top-3 quarterback (Trey Lance), and he was never a dominant player. He had a lot of really good flashes and solid production but never dominated. Most of the corners at that level are running 4.6. 4.7. Maybe some of that had to do with the offense. Guys with those traits that come from that level, like Vincent Jackson, they (dominate). He’s got big upside. If you give him a chance to develop right you could hit big with him.”
NFC scout: “Good-looking guy. He’s got build-up speed. He doesn’t play as if he knows how to play or play aggressively. He plays like a small-school guy that’s got some decent tools. He’s a fifth-year guy so I don’t know how much upside he has. He’s a linear, straight-line, build-up speed guy. I don’t see him as a starter or first-round pick by any means. More third or fourth round.”
NFL special-teams coordinator: “Highly, highly intelligent. Great kid. Very well-spoken. He’d be a good, solid kickoff returner. I don’t see him as a punt returner because he lacks that quick twitch.”
NFL special-teams coordinator: “He’s big. His testing was phenomenal. On the hoof, he’s phenomenal. You think, ‘How in the hell did somebody that looks like that go to North Dakota State?’ I just don’t think he’s a real tough guy when he runs. But there are plays, when he gets in the open field, there’s nobody that can stop him at that level.”

Should I post a "scout" praising him now to counter your lukewarm "scout" who has no clue? Reads like a guy who writes for Walter Football.
There were "scouts" that were very lukewarm on Davante too.
Don't you post negative leaning bunk about my boy here.😤😙😏

I actually did not read any of them. There were about 10 and I just copied the top few and tossed them here.
