Zero2Cool;450491Reading some stuff on him. They say his arm length makes him candidate to play inside more than outside. So, he'll probably be Guard.
They will most likely give him a shot at both RT and both guard spots. He is versatile. They love that. I actually think he and Yosh will end up battling it out for the starting RT. I am fine with either one making RT theirs. The other becomes valuable depth.

Bryan Bulaga always took it as motivation when they said his arms were too short to play tackle.

Mucky Tundra;450484Sorta feels like this pick is similar to round 1 with Walker/Wyatt only with TEs instead of WRs. When the run on TEs happened, Gutey just stuck to his draft board and went BPA for a position they wanted to fill. I figured Gutey would go Oline in the 4th so this pick doesn't surprise to much. Looks like he'll be a potential starting RT down the road.
Edit: With a name like Sean Rhyan, I was expecting a guy who'd look like he could be Notre Dame's mascot, not a Polynesian who's already challenging Bakhtiari for best hair on our offensive line.
Oh boy!
Gutey takes Oline like Run Wolf took QBs. As a matter of general principle.

Ruminating on this selection, they may be thinking:
- LT - DB69
- LG - Runyan
- C - Myers
- RG - Rhyan
- RT - Jenkins

Too many false start penalties.
This is a bit of a red flag to me. Those yards are precious. Hopefully they can train him out of it. Nothing alienates me quicker than false starts at home. We saw too many of those last year.

nerdmann;450503Gutey takes Oline like Run Wolf took QBs. As a matter of general principle.Well, the Packers have huge needs on the OL and despite you blaming Rodgers, they basically lost two home playoff games mainly because the offense couldn't adjust for the OL injuries.
Also, Rodgers and Adams did an amazing job last year getting the ball out quicker, which made the OL look amazing at times when in reality they were struggling ... but there is no more Adams... so the OL needs to step up and carry their own weight better than they did last year, though, that was in part due to injuries to Bakhtiari, Jenkins and Myers, and then also Turner. But the Packers needed the OL depth! Especially if Jenkins isn't ready to go early on.

Though that can also be a sign an OT is worried he doesn't have the speed to get out there to blame a speed rusher and trying to leave early. If that's the main reason (which I don't know if it is or not) then simply moving him to OG can do wonders.Of course, if it's not just that, then it might take a work to correct.

3/92. Sean Rhyan, T-G, UCLA (5, 7): He started all three of his seasons at left tackle before declaring a year early. Some teams had him as a guard primarily because of his short arms (32 3/8) and also because of his height (6-4 ½, 323).
The Packers were noncommittal after making Rhyan the 19th offensive lineman to be drafted (and the ninth tackle). It probably just depends where he’s needed most. That might hinge on the health of Bakhtiari and Jenkins and if they think Yosh Nijman, who played all 590 of his snaps at left tackle a year ago, has the horsepower and the game to start on the right side.
The scouts that like Rhyan say his playing style hides his short arms. He’s light on his feet, has good balance and a knack for pass protection.
Although Rhyan is smart (29 on the Wonderlic), one scout downgraded him because of his makeup. Another scout classified him as more finesse than power.
Logan Bruss, the tackle-guard from Wisconsin, went 12 picks after Rhyan to the Rams.
“I’d have taken Bruss 100 times out of 100 times over this guy (Rhyan),” said one personnel man. “This guy can’t play tackle for them. They drafted him as a guard.”
Countered another evaluator: “All he does is walk in Day 1 and be a starter. Way over Nijman.”
