I had an avulsion fracture of my fibula.  My husband and I were at the disco and I twisted it.   I thought it was a sprain...but no.

There is not a heck of a lot they can do about an avulsion fracture in the hand.  Surgery is usually worse than the actual fracture.  However if they are eliminated from the playoffs, he may want to consider it regardless.
