The next project on my Summer To-Do List is getting Egress windows installed in the basement. Or at least get it quoted to see if it's worth the money. I gotta say, I've watched some videos and the most complicated part seems to be cutting the cinder block foundation. The HARDEST part will be shoveling that damn dirt!!

And making sure the land is pitched away from the door and/or there is a french drain or other mechanism to lead water away from the house so that it does not come in through the newly dug out Egress Door

My house sits on somewhat of a hill and in 2019 the previous owner installed a sewer lateral so it really seems like the water is flowing away from the foundation. There is one spout I wanna redirect though.

Just make sure the edges of the side of the landing are just slightly higher that the adjacent earth.

And don't forget to account for some settling, depending on how much you are digging and moving earth around you are doing.

Being on hills present excellent opportunities for basement window and walkout creativity.
