Matt LaFleur asked point blank if #Packers have any expectation for Jaire Alexander to play again this season: "Yeah, I don't know. As soon as I know, I'll let you guys know."

Matt LaFleur continued on Jaire Alexander asked if there is a difference of opinion between him and Packers on whether he's able to play with knee: "I can't really get into all that. I do know he's been dealing with swelling, and he doesn't feel right to go out there and play."

We can think this is all weird, or we can consider a CB that is not a huge guy needs his knees healthy to play.

I'm not really sure where I land yet.

But don't CBs need to be able to plant and pivot to keep up with receivers at the top of a route as well as push off a leg when making cuts and tackles on stuff like comeback routes?

And if it is, what does that say about the Packers?
Had to trade All-Pro WR.
Had to trade All-Pro QB.
Had to release All-Pro LB.
Had to release All-Pro LT.

Might have to trade/release All-Pro CB?

Absolutely.
I kept hearing it was a PCL injury. If it is anything like the Meniscus tear I had few years ago, that crap sucks. I would feel amazing walking and then would run and cut and felt like my knee was baby strength. I was in my late 30's so it's not like I was an athlete, but definitely can relate to something feeling OK with the day to day stuff and then KAPOW right in the kisser when you try to work out.

I totally misread your first comment; I thought you were saying that because he's not a big boy it shouldn't be too hard for him to play on it.

No. In my opinon, if you're not a huge guy, you need to rely on speed and quickness. When you got a bum wheel, that makes your job a bit more difficult.

I realize it happens to every team but it is so disappointing when the Packers lose a player, perhaps for the rest of his career. He was nearly a $24 mil cap hit this year. If he can't play they have a $19 mil cap hit next year. If he does play them he's almost a $26 mil cap hit. My guess is if they feels he is completely healthy they pay him. If he is diminished even 20% they take the hit. The third option is to stick a couple of more void years on to his contract. He already has one void year.

I thought the way MLF responded was pretty telling. I get the sense that the organization feels he can play but Alexander isn’t feeling the same way, allegedly. He could’ve nipped that in the bud but he didn’t.

Did you watch the press conference or just read quotes? I ask because LaFleur almost always starts his answers with "Yeah". It's been a little super minor pet peeve of mine since day one with the guy.
