Martha Careful;468923If we are drafting and planning on starting center from this draft, our GM has not done a good job.

Yeah, I don't know a ton about the upcoming draft. Only that I heard it seems to be heavy on DL, so filling other needs in FA and grabbing a few guys at DE and DT makes sense to me.

earthquake;468922Jenkins to center seems likely the most likely thing unless they draft a center early. But I'm not sure why they would sign a guard to this deal if they plan to get their center in the draft.

I'm not sure they need to sign or draft a center - they drafted Monk last year. But I won't be surprised if they take a versatile OL in the 4th or 5th who can play G/C like they tend to do.

Appears you are correct. The Packers are going to be stupid. My thinking was they were trying to lock down four spots, but I guess they wanna weaken two spots and hope for the best.

Tom Silverstein @TomSilverstein → Sorry, mixed signals on who's playing where with the #Packers offensive line. I misunderstood info I received. Jenkins is going to be the center, Banks at left guard. Enjoy your day.
Oy.

The Center decision seems the most interesting thing out of this.
I wonder if they have Rhyan and Monk battle it out with a drafted rookie?
Of course what there plan with Jordan Morgan and his health also comes into play.
Is he a swing Tackle or could he be Rhyan's replacement at RG and Jenkins becomes the C.

So many options.

As far as OL prediction, and I'm doubtful of this, but based on a Packers comment, I'm going to make a more interesting suggestion of the OL we might see.

From Left to Right:
Tom, Banks, Jenkins, Rhyan, Walker

With Morgan competing for a starting on the right side, with them hoping Morgan will be the starting RT in 2026, if not 2025. But knowing to get the best 5 on the field, it might be Rhyan vs Morgan competing for the final starting spot at RG.

Mike McCarthy moved Josh Sitton to LG, to run better to the left, as successfully running to the left, opens up play actions rollouts to the right.

Well, Packers clearly heavily turned to the power running game in 2024, and with getting OG Banks, they appear to be still heading down that path even more.

A left side of Tom, Banks and Jenkins, CLEARLY dominant in the run blocking game over Walker, Jenkins and Myers.

Just random ideas, not sure if they're realistic as Tom does seem more like a RT and Walker more like a LT, but seems like they're sure they're going to re-sign Tom, and unsure if they'll re-sign Walker (especially after they've heavily invested in Tom, Banks and Jenkins, plus a 1st round picks in Morgan).

That's better than what I thought I saw on a billboard today. It actually read "Never stain your deck again." My mom won't let me say what I thought you wouldn't need to stain again.

Like Hobbs, Banks checks many of the boxes that Gute looks for. He is young, 27. He is big @ 6-5 325. He is a decent not great OG
Banks did have his best professional season by overall grade (65.4), run-blocking grade (68.9) and pass-blocking efficiency (97.1) in 2024.

Picking up Banks takes the pressure off the draft. They have plenty of pieces to move around on the OL. IF and only if someone drops into their lap the Packers can add another price on Day Two or more likely, Day Three.

For some reason PFF isn't showing the stats right now, but I was wondering Banks zone run blocking grades from his power/gap run blocking grade.

As the Packers were a heavy zone running team like the 49ers, but last year switched and were about 50/50 zone and power.

Banks supposedly is a great power blocker, but his run blocking grade was average... I'm just wondering if going from 20% of power gap runs to 50% power gap runs might suddenly make Banks look a lot better in the run blocking department.

This guy has only played 5 FIVE snaps at RG his entire career. He's been LG every other snap.
