CB Nate Hobbs, Raiders (26): A fifth-round pick in 2021, Hobbs has three interceptions and 19 passes defensed in four seasons. In 11 games (seven starts) in 2024, he intercepted one pass with five passes defensed. According to PFF, he ranked 74th in completion percentage, 78th in snaps per completion and 64th in passer rating (96.3). He played mostly in the slot but also corner and in the box. Remarkably, he was not penalized.

The Packers are signing former Raiders CB Nate Hobbs, per source.
It’s a four-year, $48 million deal including $16M guaranteed.
PFF top 200 ranking ... 85th overall

Gute at it again!
Say a real goodbye to Jaire.
I wish him well, maybe a change is what he needs

I guess my thread did not cut the mustard....please delete it.
I am underwhelmed.

I'm not sure Jaire is gone yet, I think they might let him come to camp and try to show if he still has it.

Well let's see how he does with better talent around him, as he looked like a great slot CB when there was some talent around him. Raiders defense has kind of lacked that lately (no one is talking to you Maxx, you're the exception to the rule).

Interesting, as his worst season was his only season as a perimeter CB. Also, potentially two slot CBs as outside CBs.
My guess is the Packers still plan on upgrading the DL so they can get pressure with only 4 and drop the rest into coverage.

I am trying to be positive,

CB Nate Hobbs is a typical Gute pick. He's decent and has potential to improve. He's 25 so while he's not a kid he is still fairly young.
They beat out other teams (Pittsburgh for sure. SF was interested last year.) for the player
His contract average will be $12 mil per year which makes him tied for 20th with more signings to follow. A front loaded $16 mil bonus and I presume to be a small first year salary is also in the Gute playbook. Year 4 will probably be $20-25 million making him expendable.
That Hobbs played for Illinois is just a bonus.
Oh- CB was a weakness last year so adding a FA and then getting someone in the draft will certainly help.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have lost out on one of their top cornerback targets on the first day of free agency.
Per NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the Green Bay Packers have swooped in and signed Nate Hobbs, formerly of the Las Vegas Raiders, to a four-year deal worth $48 million ($16 million guaranteed).
A fifth-round pick out of Illinois in the 2021 NFL Draft, Hobbs started 38 games over his four seasons with the Raiders and logged a total of 281 tackles to go with 19 passes defended, three forced fumbles and three interceptions.
New Steelers defensive backs coach Gerald Alexander led the Raiders' safety group during the 2024 campaign, thus acquainting him with Hobbs.
While Alexander didn't technically coach Hobbs, who held down the slot corner role in Vegas, the expectation was that their connection could lead Pittsburgh to make a strong push for the 25-year-old.
The only slot corner included on PFR’s Top 50 Free Agents list, Hobbs has drawn trade interest in the past. The 49ers were among the teams to pursue him, but no deal came to pass, keeping Hobbs in Las Vegas.
