wpr;468934That Hobbs played for Illinois is just a bonus.

Oh- CB was a weakness last year so adding a FA and then getting someone in the draft will certainly help.

U of I? Barf!

Yep. Reminds me of last year; sign McKinney+Jacobs, let the draft come to you, trust your board and get the guys you want at the spot you want. This is what I meant in the Fan Shout earlier about how the Packers draft board is shaping up. I thought there might be a dark horse OT pick for GB at #23 but with the Banks signing it probably won't happen (either Morgan claims the LT spot from Walker or Walker fends him off forcing Rhyan and Morgan to fight at RG). With Hobbs, GB doesn't need to spend multiple top draft picks at CB for help. Want a guy in the first but he's gone before #23? Draft a big fatty on the dline (or maybe even a WR lol) and get the next guy on your board in round 2. Get a CB in round 1 but can't decide between positions in round 2? Try to trade back and let others do the work while getting another draft pick.

A Reverse Hayward?! If it pans out like that maybe some people will finally shut up about Hayward and Hyde walking a decade ago.

Fake. News. I never sees you.

This signing makes me think they take CB in Rounds 1 through 3, or in other words, top half of draft

Well I just nose around, look at things and occasionally comment on something. Only people who are gluttons for punishment get in Twitter football arguments. I mean, those types are real idiots, am I right?! :P

I asked a friend of mine whos a huge Raiders fan about Hobbs and he had mixed feelings. He said he has tons of upside and was kind of starting to show that the past 2 seasons but he also is often injured and on IR. He missed 17 games in four seasons, including six in 2024.

Gute loves to gamble on these type of players.

According to PFT, Hobbs contract is set up to actually be a one year contract, with 3 team year options to continue for another year, for a total of 4 years.

So in theory, the Packers can quickly get out of the contract if they want to.

i have no clue about financial aspects of these contracts can you explain how the packers get out of a signed contract for 4 years
clauses and clauses
i guess. but doesn't that leave all the money for the future years as dead money?

Teams get out of contracts by releasing or trading player's contracts.

No dead cap space is only the money that the players has already earned or been guaranteed, it does not include the unguaranteed in unearned money which would be the amounts the teams are saving by releasing or trading said players.
