How can you call it "giving up" on a player that had nearly no chance on making the team?
Call it was it really is. They brought him in. They saw his potential. Then the let him go in order to take a look at another player.

I guess he got or is getting some sort of injury settlement. If I was him, I would have faked some bullsht injury also. (Maybe kidding, here)
