Easily the best WR Favre ever had to throw to, Sterling Sharpe has been nominated for the NFL Hall of Fame.
The sad thing is I highly doubt he will land a spot there.
If he does, awesome.
The only thing that's holding him back is the amount of years he's played.

In his time, he was the dominating WR.
7 years in the NFL, he was a Pro Bowler 5 times and All-Pro 3 times.
He led the NFL in Receptions 3 times, TDs twice, and Yards once.
In 1992, he secured the Triple Crown for Receivers - Most TDs, Most Receptions, and Most Yards.
If I'm not mistaken, the last person to do that recently was Steve Smith of the Panthers.

Sharpe had incredible hands and not only that, was strong as Hell.
If you threw a pass between him and a defender, there's not much the defender can do.
He'd pretty much just take it from him.
Sharpe was that strong and ran perfect patterns.

Not only that though, Sharpe and Favre had an incredible chemistry.
Plays broke down all the time and the two of them knew exactly where to go.

Sharpe also once set a short-lived record for Most Receptions in a Season.

All this though, like I said, he's a long shot.
Yes, he was the dominating WR of his day, but he only played 7 years before a career ending injury.

I thought he was as good as, if not better than, Jerry Rice. What a shame about the spinal injury.

I don't think he will make it either. It's sort of like the Terrell Davis situation, except Davis has a better shot at getting in because of his two Super Bowl rings.

Greg - If one man had a shot a Rice's records, it would have been Sharpe.
Moss is the best shot today but Rice's work ethic was superior to Moss's.
That will matter once Moss hits 33 or 34.

Sharpe was awesome to watch. Favre said that Javon Walker was his best WR.

Sadly, I don't think Sharpe will make it either. Although players who had short careers have made it. Gale Sayers comes to mind.

Jerry Rice will go in and I'm afraid that, if a second WR will go in, it'll be Cris Carter. Both guys really deserve it. Sharpe would've been a no-brainer together with Rice if he hadn't had that injury. Such a shame.

Some other interesting guys on that list : Kevin Greene(!), Clay Matthews(!), Ken Anderson, Steve Tasker(!), Ray Guy, Art Modell and Ron Wolf(!)

Hoping at least one of these guys will make it. Ron Wolf would be amazing, although I don't see that happening.

Sharpe was fun to watch, thats for sure. The short career might keep him out, like all of you already said.

Ah, totally missed him. I think that he'll be one of those guys that's going to be amongst the final cuts every year, but just doesn't get in. It is a shame, though, one amazing DB and so smart. Both regular and football smarts. He just sees/saw things developping before the happend.

Sterling was great.
I think the injury that cut his career short resulted from him putting his head down and running guys over for first downs.
Great player.
He made the Majik man and Favre.
