I practically fall out of my seat every time I watch this scene. Cinematic genius of the highest order.
Part of what makes this line so hilarious for me, by the way, is the fact that while reading for this scene the actress asked the director, Tommy Wiseau, if this revelation, which comes out of literally nowhere, has any impact later in the story, and he just told her not to worry about it. As it turns out, her cancer diagnosis is never brought up again at any point in the film! So to think that the actress was reciting that line while feeling just as befuddled about this bombshell as the audience feels in that moment only adds to the comedic effect.
I fail to see anything funny in this video, and furthermore I don't see why anyone would find humor in the misery of others. It causes me to question more each day just where has our society's empathy for our fellow neighbors dissappeared to.
We hear of mass murders on almost a weekly basis now and ask how this has come to pass. It comes from the greater normalization of violence as well as the lowering of moral standards.
Now call me wrong, I dare you.

It's obvious you haven't been introduced to the cultural phenomenon known as The Room. What makes this scene -- the whole film, really -- so laugh-out-loud funny is that Tommy Wiseau wasn't playing it for laughs. He made the film with the utmost of sincerity and intended for the audience to approach it as such. He thought he was making a deeply moving drama. Instead, the storytelling, the writing, the directing, and the acting were so thoroughly inept -- the delivery of the wretched lines so baldly on the nose -- that every every frame of the film descended into unintentional comedy. The Room bombed at the box office but soon developed into a cult classic in the vein of Rocky Horror Picture Show . . . except that whereas Rocky Horror is a truly great flick, The Room has been justly dubbed one of the worst movies of all time. If you have a taste for so-awful-it's-awesome cinema, you really need to give The Room a try, preferably at a raucous audience screening. You'll either hate it with a passion or you won't be able to get it out of your head. Or both.

Rourke I never saw the movie so I didn't know the line but I wondered if you were quoting someone else.
I am relieved.

Our world has become cold. So much violence and no compassion. It's no wonder people can go on shooting sprees and not give a damn.
I can't wait to get out of this damn world.
I don't feel like there's any reason to go on anymore.
Nothing to look forward to, except more pain and misery.

That's what the media would have you believe -- that is, after all, how they make their money --
yet the truth is that there is less violence and suffering in the world than at any other point in human history.
By a WIDE margin.
There has never been a better time to be alive than right now.
