I believe that I shall slow cook a Beef Stew this weekend.
Stew Beef ?
Never, I always buy a better cut,
like Beef for Kabobs or perhaps a London Broil. I include potatoes, onions, carrots, celery, and mushrooms.
In addition, I like to slightly thicken the broth with corn starch to form a rich gravy. Salt and pepper to taste, and then many good cooks secret , a touch of Kitchen Bouquet. It is a browning and seasoning sauce adds a slight hint of flavor as it darkens the gravy's color to a rich brown hue.

I like to serve with freshly baked biscuits and perhaps some Peach or Cherry Jam .

ENJOY ! [thumbup]

I plan on starting a slow cooked pot of Beef Stew on Saturday and enjoying it as I watch the Packers bitch slap the Cowboys Sunday afternoon. I wish you success , however I'm not clear on which recipe you'll be trying though. [biggrin]

Next time, oven roasted Bar-B-Que Chicken served with an Almond, Water Chestnut, Cream of Chicken Soup, and White Rice Casserole. I'll save the rest for a few days from now. [thumbup]

Enjoy !

Smokey, just my luck. I fired up the slow cooker, and the darn thing doesn't work! Had to throw it out. Was going to slow cook some chicken gizzards (makes them tender and oh so good!) and the darn thing burned out!
So, will have to wait until I have enough money to buy a new one. Not sure just how long that will be. Hopefully in the next month or so.

A large pot on the stove top can serve in place of a crock pot, in a pinch.

As for a new crock pot, I saw very good ones for sale at Wall-Mart over the recent Holidays for just $19.99 . That was likely a sale price, but they should not cost much more even now .

Spring has officially arrived, even if it has not warmed up yet. Soon many of us will want to fire up the grill, prepare special dishes like Potato Salad or Pasta Salad or a special mixed fresh fruit melody. Some of you may bake Bread or Cake or Pie's.

I just love good Bar-B-Que with Cole slaw and Baked Beans !
Hush Puppies or Hot Corn Muffins with real Butter and don't forget the ice cold Beer . Yumm !

What do you like ? Share it here with us (don't be afraid) .

what is this having to warm up outside in order to fire up the grill crap?
Grill year round.
I'm pretty simple on the grill mostly though.
Steaks or Chops along with mixed veggies.

Non-grill wise, my favorites to cook are

Fried Rice with either Pork or Chicken
Chicken Pot Pie
Vegetable Beef Soup
Fajita's

Yes, it's true many do grill year round. However some are not as fortunate as you, do to their location, or community rules, or any number of reasons. My point was to welcome Spring and celebrate life.

I for one would like to read just how you prepare some of your specialties.
I especially love Pork Fried Rice.
