warhawk;404921Pats don't have a run game

They're 13th in the NFL with most rushing yards. Not the mention James White is leading their team in catches and yards (which some of those short passes are basically runs to get him in space first) ... so if Tramon is at FS, I'm guessing we're going to be seeing Whitehead in dime LB role at least while RB White is in the game.

Also it would be awesome if we could get Aaron Jones in space, toss him the ball in a one on one match-ups as well.
warhawk;404921Just tough to beat those Pats at home. It would be great if we do. I do't think I dislike any team more than them.

Last time they lose a home page was 10/01/17 (week 4) wow.

Week 1 they only scored 27 points at home... but since then, they've scored at least 38 points every home game this year!

Not counting the first or last week of the regular season, the last time they did not score at least 35 points at home was 10/29/17 (week 8).

So historically speaking they're about to light up our defense

After the fight our guys showed last week, it gives me hope.
We will see just how our guys are, whether they show a strong showing or wimp out.

I think one thing that made the Rams easier to slow down (and might make the Patriots easier) is that the ball is basically going to the RB over 50% of the time if you count all the runs and passes to the RBs... so if you limit the other guys and stop the RBs, then you give give their offense some troubles.

In the Patriots case, over 21% of attempted passes have completed to the RB (mainly James White, who is 7th in the entire NFL in number of catches, beating WR Adams by 3), so I'm expecting them to keep Whitehead at ILB at least while James White is at RB.

Also of the completed passes over 31.5% have been to RBs (of course you're more likely to miss longer passes to WRs than shorter passes to RBs... but still that seems pretty high).

I'm not sure if the Rams are easy to slow down. I believe the Packers held them to the 2nd lowest total they've scored in the season, and our offense spotted them a deuce.
I'm more inclined to say the Packers did a good job. GASP. I know, I KNOW! How dare I

I was extremely heartened by the defensive
game planning and effort last week, other than HHCD.

I hope we can see Burks at linebacker or perhaps Jones matching up with James White out of the backfield. Martinez simply canโ€™t match up with him speed wise.

Perhaps I am being Pollyanna-ish, but I would not be surprised to see the Packers kick ass Sunday night and make a statement came out of this.

Just to be clear, are you suggesting Whitehead and Burks as the two ILBers over Martinez?

I'd have to stick with Martinez... while Burks has more speed he also has a lot more mistake... where Martinez has seemed to have surprisingly little errors... which I think is important against RB White who seems to be great at forcing/tricking the defenders into a mistake.

I said easier, not easy.

I don't think you can have easier without first having easy. ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ˜œ

Of course you can... playing CB at an extremely high level in a power five conference is easier than playing CB at an extremely high level in the NFL ... but neither is easy.

I am Simply stating that in passing situations, Martinez is not a good match on White.

Accordingly I would rather see Burks or an extra DB to cover White

I want to see what Burks, breeland, josh Jackson and josh Jones can bring to the table at some point this season. We've had a lot of potential riding the pine so far this season.
