They factor visits into the quote. They factor total job into the quote. You take something away, they are probably going to increase the price of what you do want them to do.

As an aside, in order for you to determine what kind of company you are dealing with, ask SUBTLE questions like, " Hey, do you guys come in with a big crane, or a bucket or truck mounted one, I don't know much about this stuff." He says big crane. "Oh one of those remote controlled ones?"  If yes, he will be so proud, etc. If no, not a big deal but the negotiating position is improved.

Stump grinding... We talked about Toro vs bluebird, etc. The real pros coming in with a track driven riding stump grinder and make short work of the whole grinding process, but that is an 88k piece of equipment. 

See? So many variables. Dude on the bluebird ain't cheap day to day with the contractor. I definitely lean towards cutting your deal with the package vs piecing it out, when in doubt.

Once I get my third quote, I will start figuring out package deals and what not. I just want to be concise because these people are running a business and I don't wanna dilly dally on the phone with them unnecessarily.

We all know that. We know that. The contractor knows that. Comparatively. He sizes up how physically able his client is, able to do the job himself, how ignorant/dorky/lazy/old/nice/bitchy knowledgeable etc.

If he was sizing me up to see if I could physically do the work myself, he'd have offered to pay me to do the work.
