At first you might not "see it", but I dare you to listen to her sing for 20 minutes and not get hooked by it.



You have probably never heard of her, and she doesn't speak a lick of English, yet she is seriously in the running as the most popular singer on Earth right now.


Her name is (English Equivalent) Alan Dawa Dolma.
In Japan and China, they just call her Alan.
It all started for her (hitting the big-time) when she sang the theme song for "Red Cliff."
She is a Tibetan Buddhist, and has topped the charts in three languages.

the movie:

Red Cliff is a Chinese epic-war film based on the Battle of Red Cliffs (208-209 AD) and events during the end of the Han Dynasty and immediately prior to the period of the Three Kingdoms in ancient China. The film was directed by John Woo, and stars Tony Leung, Takeshi Kaneshiro, Zhang Fengyi, Chang Chen, Hu Jun, Lin Chi-ling and Zhao Wei.
Within Asia, Red Cliff was released in two parts, totaling over four hours in length. The first part was released in July 2008 and the second in January 2009. Outside of Asia, a single 2 hour film was released in 2009, though the two-part version was later released on DVD and Blu-ray in the UK. With an estimated budget of US $80 million, Red Cliff is the most expensive Asian-financed film to date.
The first part of the film grossed US$124 million in Asia and broke the box office record previously held by Titanic in mainland China

Alan Dawa Dolma (Tibetan:
; traditional Chinese: ; pinyin: ln Dwzhum; born in July 25, 1987), professionally known as Alan (stylized as alan) (Japanese: , Chinese:
or ), is a female Tibetan-Chinese singer active in the Japanese music industry. Discovered by Avex Trax at an audition in China in 2006, she made her debut in Japan the following year. Her main producer and composer is Kazuhito Kikuchi and she is also known for playing the erhu.
In 2009, her ninth Japanese single "Kuon no Kawa" debuted at #3 on the Oricon weekly charts, the highest ever by a singer from China.
