This argument will never be settled unless we can agree on what constitutes a WR1. Some people are, in essence, saying you aren't a #1 unless you are one of the top 3 receivers, some are at the other end saying if you're a #1 for any team, you're a #1, and others are somewhere in between.

It takes more than just freak physical skills.

Zero2Cool;319448The debate isn't whether Calvin Johnson is better than Jordy Nelson.

What we're trying to debate is whether Jordy Nelson is a WR1 or not and also identifying the criteria of what makes a WR an actual WR1.

Actually it is, because Calvin Johnson and Dez Bryant are the measuring stick for a legitimate #1 receiver.

Zero2Cool;319374What do you see that makes them better than Jordy Nelson? Are they faster? Are they more agile? Do they catch with their hands more than their body? Are they better at back shoulder catches? Are they better run blockers? What is it that you see? Why is that so hard to explain? If it's so clear and obvious, it shouldn't be difficult to explain, right? I'm just looking for a discussion here.

I feel the same way sometimes arguing with green and gold goggle wearing people.
Jordy was Green Bay's number 1 receiver, but he isn't in the same conversation as the elite receivers.
Just like Matt Ryan is a fine quarterback, but he isn't in the same conversation as Aaron Rodgers or Tom Brady is he?

There, did I dumb it down enough for all of you.

The difference between you and I is I can explain why Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady are elite QB's and Matt Ryan is a grade below them without saying "the eye test" crapola and rudely go around labeling people who disagree. Maybe you don't want to set any criteria because you fear Jordy will fall into it and fear being called a green an gold goggle wearing people because from your context, that must be awful!! I mean, thinking of your team in high regard?? The atrocity!!!

I created this topic because I have interest in knowing what people think a WR1 is and what criteria a WR needs to meet to be considered a WR1.
I laid out my reasoning, yet who has the balls to do the same to declassify Jordy as WR1? Based on your numerous responses, surely isn't you as you continue to dodge the challenge like a weak politician. [boxing]

I am finding it fascinating some so quick to say Jordy is not something they can't even describe. [giddity]

Guess since I'm borderline crazy I'll try this again ...

Hebrew - Jesus did not have blonde hair and blue eyes, as is the consensus of the Fox News Network and all of Texas' good normal Americans.

It sure would be nice to have a legit #1 WR like Jordy Nelson on the active roster right now.

Some claimed that the other WRs would step up and match Jordy's production, because Jordy isn't a true #1. It hasn't happened. Aaron Rodgers is on pace for about 800 yards less than last year, which would be the lowest production of his career by a wide margin, baring the injury shortened season of 2013.

That's because Jordy Nelson is absolutely a "#1 WR." He may not be truly elite, but he is undoubtedly a #1 WR in the NFL. Or at least he was being getting injured.
