DoddPower;329310That's because Jordy Nelson is absolutely a "#1 WR." He may not be truly elite, but he is undoubtedly a #1 WR in the NFL. Or at least he was being getting injured.
There isn't a GM in football that would trade Jordy straight up for Calvin Johnson, Dez Bryant, AJ Green, or Julio Jones.
Jordy Nelson is Green Bay's #1 wide receiver though.

Which is an argument that Jordy Nelson is not one of the top 3 WRs in the league, not that he isn't a #1.

Didn't I list 4?
Those four I consider elite #1 WR's.
Jordy is in the next tier, but take away his quarterback, would he even be in the conversation?

Aaron Rodgers is in the elite qb tier, but take away Jordy, would he even be in the conversation?
I think he would either way but if you look at Rodgers #s this year w/o Jordy I don't know how you can still undervalue his worth to the team.

I don't - the whole receiving corp is subpar without him, which is why not addressing our mediocrity at TE was a huge off season mistake.

Although I believe the staff was expecting RR to step up this year, I agree with you on this. It would be nice to see someone who can catch quick passes over the middle, which would open things up if the defense adjusted for it - either way they would have to pick their poison.
Last season we had Cobb and Nelson to create the headaches for opposing defenses. If you double covered one, the other was in single coverage - which was routinely exploited.. This season the depth behind Cobb is a rather big drop off, so you would expect the staff to get favorable match ups in a different way - we have yet to see that.
As things stand now - all they have to do is stick with our WRs for a few seconds, our passing plays often take too long to develop. Without having a quick outlet that can catch reliably, it limits where you can go with the ball. I really don't think opposing defenses spend much time worrying about our TE, he doesn't block that well and has had butter fingers lately.

With Nelson out the Packers couldn't afford any more key receivers going down. So the loss of Adams for a few games and Quarless for even longer didn't go w/o notice. Throw in the fact that Janis hasn't become the Jordy clone we hoped he would turn into (atleast not yet), and it is what it is.
I still have plenty of faith Nelson, Cobb, Adams, and Montgomery will be one of the top receiving units in the NFL next year.

After Davante went down, I felt like they gameplanned extensively for Montgomery, then lost him early the next week.

I did too, they motioned him in the backfield a few times and seemed to have some designed passes with him in mind. Excited to see what they have planned for Montgomery when he gets back.k

I think he'll be a difference maker too.
In the meantime, I'd like to see them get Davante deep and have some success on the ground.
