Getting relatively tired of people saying we didn't deserve this win. The way this game started the wheels could have come off but we didn't let it happen. We didn't panic and we clamped things down on D and fought our way back. Sure we got some help from the refs but this team showed resiliency last night. Give them some friggin credit.

Stop assessing the spot foul and start imposing a 15-yard (or better yet, 10-yard) penalty for defensive pass interference, and the need for challenges disappears instantly. And no, defensive backs won't mug receivers on every play if the NFL moves to a more reasonable penalty for this infraction. But DPI calls will cease to have such outlandish game-changing effects, and quarterbacks will have less incentive to throw up so many fifty-fifty deep balls.

I don’t agree.
If a D-back sees he going to be beat for a TD, or even a long gain, what
incentive is there for them NOT to grab the WR? Let’s see.....don’t grab, and give up a 50 yard gain, or grab him and it only costs 10 or 15 yards.
I like the DPI penalty as it stands, as point of the foul.

wpr;424995I am officially changing my position. If BARRY SANDERS says it's wrong, well then it's WRONG dammit.

Yeah....the Lions played SOOOO great! 5 field goals.....not touchdowns.
Plus as was shown, the first hands to the face was verified.
I understand Sanders though. All his years wasted...I mean, playing for the lowly Lions. He wants to see them win SOMETHING while he’s still alive.

I think one of the huge problems with the NFL is that they base almost everything off of PR... which is Roger Goodell's 1980s management style still at work in the 2020s...

And it's finally working it's way to the reffing ...

The Fail-Mary ref told us all we really need to know, the NFL told them no flags on the final plays (which was for PR reasons) and look at the Refs in the Saints/Rams game, they were just following their (bad) orders.

Also this is the same Goodell who (allegedly) shoved Mike Pereira during an argument about officiating... then they set up a replay system at large for Dean Blandino (a replay expert) to review all the big important challenges and review, only for Blandino to leave for the.higher pay of the media soon after...

And then we get Alberto Riverton, which his main quality seems to be a yes man for Goodell...

And we have gone always from strict written out rules, to some more broad general less written define rules and judgements... based on PR.

Such as did you noticed how the catch rule was being called a lot different the year before the rule change? And the written rule change some how magically matched the new way of calling it... so they changing the way they called it BEFORE they changed the rule book.

Also then added a new very board and unclear roughing the passer rule... which if defenders landed on QBs it was considered roughing... then after enough bad PR that suddenly disappeared.

And basically every years Refs point of emphasis follows the same pattern...

And Riveron shown video of this new rule and what would and wouldn't be overturned and after some bad PR concerns, almost nothing is overturned.

This is management reaction via PR and it's now at the top of the reffing, and it's horrible!

Zero2Cool;424973Releasing Jordy was clearly the right decision. We signed two players for his salary savings and he didn't have anything much left and Packers took three WRs in the draft. I hated to see him go, but time is time.

Nope...

Nelson contract saved about $10.2 million, Graham's contact cost $10 million per season... and minimum salary is over 0.2 million, so it wasn't two players, just Graham.

Packers seriously missed Rodgers ha IMG chemistry with a WR other than Adams last year, especially in the redzone where Rodgers and Nelson were often money! And the Packers had another (in my opinion better) option to release, in Cobb. Which Cobb had failed to live up to his contract while Nelson delivered!

  • BTW, kudos to the offensive line for hustling their asses off after that INT and making a tackle

  • Absolutely! One of the best and most underrated plays that OL hustled and acted as no F'n way they were letting him by!

    Yup...

You just misunderstand the salary cap a little here.
Yes, you're right Jimmy Graham's contract averaged about $10 million per season, however, that is not how the salary cap is calculated.
Graham's first year cap hit was just under $6 million and Mo Wilkerson's was $5 million for 2018 season.

    Graham's cap hit's for 2019 and 2020 are $12.6 million and $11.6 million respectively.

This is why I believe so many Packers fans were pissed off the Packers paid Graham that bonus (~$5 million?) in March '19 because we had an "out" and didn't take it.

As for keeping Randall Cobb over Jordy Nelson. I think both are done and finished so if we had got rid of both I would have been okay.
If I had to take one or the other??

Players tend to play really well the first year away from their long tenured franchise relative to the second year so while hindsight makes me wanna say Nelson, I think I'll have to say Cobb only because he got us that win against Bears. I actually can't remember another play from 2018 with him off the top of my head.
